Age:  26 yr old

Diagnosis:  Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

Marcos Corona is a young husband and father battling leukemia.  He joined the California Army National Guard in April 2009 and he and his wife had a child, Marcos Jr., in May 2011everything was good.  A few months after his son’s birth, Marcos was diagnosed with leukemia.  In February 2012, Marcos’ leukemia went into remission and he returned to full military duty. But last November, the cancer returned and Marcos started his battle once again and began chemotherapy treatments right away.  His doctors said the chemotherapy that helped the first time didn't work this time around and he was in need of a bone marrow transplant.  Marcos received a match just 3 months ago and underwent a bone marrow transplant.  After 80+ days Marcos is doing remarkably well!  Before Marcos’ transplant he said if he got better he hoped to return to the Army National Guard to continue to serve his country.  Marcos is on track to doing just that.
